Form of Government
The City of Simi Valley uses a Council-Manager form of government. This means the City Council sets policies, and the City Manager runs daily operations
Mayor
The Mayor is elected by voters across the whole city. The Mayor serves a two-year term. The Mayor leads City Council meetings and has one vote.
City Council
The City Council has four members. Council Members are elected by district and serve four-year terms. Two seats are up for election every two years.
Council Members also serve on the Ventura County Waterworks District No. 8 Board and the Simi Valley Library Board of Trustees.
Appointments
The City Council appoints the City Manager and the City Attorney.
City Manager
The City Manager leads daily City operations. The City Manager carries out City Council policies and decisions. The City Manager oversees City departments and staff and appoints department heads. The City Manager also serves as City Clerk and City Treasurer.
