Turf Removal Program

The City of Simi Valley is committed to saving water and reducing costs by participating in the Metropolitan Water District's Turf Removal Program.

The Turf Removal Program rebate program requires the removal of existing turf and replacement with permeable hardscapes, a minimum number of California Friendly® plants, wood mulch covering, installation of high-efficiency sprinkler heads and/or drip irrigation, and installation of at least one stormwater retention feature.

Landscape Transformation Projects

The Simi Valley Water Conservation Landscape Transformation Partnership Project includes several locations across the city.

One recent example is the Welcome Corner site, located at the intersection of Madera Road and Los Angeles Avenue. This project highlights how waterwise landscaping can be both functional and visually appealing. Watch the video below for more information.

The City’s Civic Center has also received funding to replace large areas of turf with water-efficient landscaping. Additional details about this project will be available on a future website.
