Keeping Simi Valley Clean
The Sanitation Services Division (part of Public Works) works 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We make sure that wastewater from your homes and businesses is moved and cleaned safely.
Our Two Main Jobs
To keep our community healthy, we manage two important systems:
- The Sewer System: A giant network of pipes buried under our city streets that carries wastewater away.
- The Water Quality Control Plant: This is our cleaning facility. We treat the water until it is very clean and safe before we release it back into nature.
How the Work Gets Done
Cleaning the city's water is a big job. It takes "behind-the-scenes" hard work and many resources, including:
- Expert Staff: Trained professionals who watch over the system at all times.
- Specialized Tools: High-tech gear and heavy machinery.
- Smart Planning: Engineering and careful prep to stop problems before they start.
- Power and Support: A lot of electricity and help from local contractors.
Our Teams
The Sanitation Services Division is made up of three main groups:
- Sanitation Engineering: The team that plans and designs our systems.
- Operations: Collection and Treatment: The people who collect the waste and run the treatment plant.
- Environmental Compliance: The experts who make sure we follow all safety and nature regulations.
