If you already have a residential flood insurance policy, or a commercial flood insurance policy, talk to your insurance agent about any options that are available to you. If you choose a higher deductible, your premium may be lower. You will likely need an Elevation Certificate to determine the correct insurance rate for your property.
If your house or building was built before 1991, you may have to hire a surveyor or engineer to prepare the elevation certificate. The City does have limited records of Elevation Certificates prepared for building built before 1991.
If your house or building was built after 1991, it is likely that the City has an Elevation Certificate, or other documentation from FEMA, on file. You may contact the Public Works Department at (805) 583-6786 for more information on Elevation Certificates.
