The City of Simi Valley maintains a road network of approximately 335 miles of streets. Multiple pavement rehabilitation projects are undertaken on a yearly basis to maintain this essential part of the City's infrastructure.

Below is a list of current and upcoming capital improvement projects. 

SV 18-04 - FY 2017-2018 Annual Major Streets Improvement Project

The Annual Major Streets Improvement Project provides for the maintenance and rehabilitation of major (arterial) streets throughout the City.  This project for the 2017-2018 fiscal year will include slurry seals and/or grinding and new asphalt pavement at the streets listed below. For a map and dates of pavement grinding, paving and slurry seal activities, please see this project's Work Schedule.

  • Madera Road from Cochran Street to its north terminus
  • First Street from Enchanted Way to its north terminus
  • Cochran Street from Stearns Street to Stow Street
  • Los Angeles Avenue from Tapo Street to Ralston Avenue
  • Tapo Canyon Road from Guardian Street to the Arroyo Simi bridge
  • Tapo Canyon Road from Cochran Street to the 118 Freeway (Northbound side only)

SV 19-01 - West Los Angeles Avenue Widening

Starting in mid-July, construction of the West Los Angeles Avenue Widening Project is set to begin. The project will include the segment of West Los Angeles Avenue from the City's Public Services Center (500 West Los Angeles Avenue) westerly to the Simi Valley/Moorpark city limits. The improvements include widening the north and south side of the street to add bike lanes, and curb and gutter, allowing the street to be restriped with a painted median, one traffic lane in each direction, and a bike lane in each direction. In addition, a sidewalk and street lights will be added along the south side of the street. Most of the construction will occur during the day between 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. During construction, there will be traffic delays. The project is scheduled to be completed by December of 2019..

SV 19-04 - FY 2018-2019 Annual Major Streets Improvement Project - Cochran Street

The Annual Major Streets Improvement Project provides for the maintenance and rehabilitation of major (arterial) streets throughout the City.  This project for the 2018-2019 fiscal year will include grinding and new asphalt pavement on the south side of Cochran Street between Sycamore Drive and Galena Avenue, a full-width grind and new asphalt pavement on  Cochran Street between Galena Avenue and Sequoia Avenue, and installation of a fiber optic traffic signal interconnect.  Construction on the segment between Sycamore Drive and Galena Avenue will occur during the hours of 9:00 pm and 6:00 am, Monday through Friday. Access to businesses along this segment will be maintained at all times. Construction on the segment between Galena Avenue and Sequoia Avenue will occur during the hours of 7:00 pm and 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday.  

SV 19-05 - FY 2019-2020 Annual Minor Streets Improvement Project  - SB-1

The Annual Minor Streets Improvement Project provides for the maintenance and rehabilitation of residential and collector streets throughout the City.  This project will be funded by the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017, also known as Senate Bill 1 (SB-1).  This project for the 2019-2020 fiscal year will include slurry seals and/or grinding and new asphalt pavement at the streets listed below.

SV 19-08 - FY 2018-2019 Annual Minor Streets Improvement Project  - CDBG Areas

The Annual Minor Streets Improvement Project provides for the maintenance and rehabilitation of residential and collector streets within areas in which street maintenance and rehabilitation are funded by Community Development Block Grants (CDBG).  This project for the 2018-2019 fiscal year will include grinding and new asphalt pavement at the streets listed below.  Construction is anticipated to start in early June and end in late August.
