City of Simi Valley, CA
Home MenuHomeless Services
The City of Simi Valley shares information and connects residents to help with their quality of life. The City does not directly provide homeless services or emergency housing. Instead, it helps people find programs or services to help with their needs. The City also created the Community Resource Coordination Meetings to help prevent and reduce homelessness in the community.
Ways to Reduce Homelessness
There are many ways to contribute to the efforts to prevent and reduce homelessness. If you want to help people experiencing homelessness or those in need, start by identifying your “call to action.” This means deciding how you would like to help. You are also encouraged to learn about the Ventura County Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness and explore ways to get more involved in community efforts.
For more information see the Call to Action brochure (PDF)
Direct your generosity to service providers that assist those in need. Don't give money to panhandlers. Donations of time or money can go further and have a greater, longer-lasting impact on the homeless and those in need. Many organizations accept donations and rely heavily on volunteers to prevent and reduce homelessness.
Community Involvement
There are a number of opportunities available to the community to increase the collective understanding of issues other community members face and provide guidance on addressing various life challenges.
For recreational and educational opportunities, visit the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District website.
Free courses are available to help community members understand mental health issues and learn how to respond to mental health emergencies. These courses are offered nationwide and provide practical tools to support others in need.
View course information and upcoming training dates, visit the Mental Health First Aid website.
The Parent Project has provided 25 years of service to provide parent-training programs for parents raising difficult or out-of-control children.
