Welcome to Simi Valley sign on Welcome Corner at Madera Road and Los Angeles Avenue

A Community Landmark in Simi Valley

The Welcome Corner is at the northeast corner of East Los Angeles Avenue and Madera Road. It welcomes visitors entering the west side of Simi Valley and shows the City's strong community spirit.

Surrounded by olive and pine trees, the Welcome Corner has been an important part of Simi Valley for many years. It is both a historical landmark and a symbol of local pride.

How It Started

The Welcome Corner began in the summer of 1967. Several community groups worked together to create it. Simi Valley Beautiful started the project before Simi Valley officially became a City. Their goal was to make the area more beautiful and create a warm welcome for new visitors and residents. Over the years, many groups, including the Simi Valley Jaycees, the Kiwanis Club, youth organizations, the Chamber of Commerce, garden clubs, and City maintenance staff helped care for and improve the Welcome Corner. Their teamwork helped make the Welcome Corner the special place it is today.

Who Can Participate

Only nonprofit organizations that help build community in Simi Valley may take part in the Welcome Corner Sign Program. Organizations must support inclusion and must not discriminate. Some older signs may stay because of their historic status. However, all new applicants must follow the current Policies and Procedures (PDF) This helps make sure the Welcome Corner continues to represent the heart of Simi Valley.

Welcome Corner Sign Application

Organizations that qualify may apply to place a sign at the Welcome Corner using the Welcome Corner Sign Application (website).
