Neighborhood Councils are a unique part of the City of Simi Valley, giving residents a voice in decisions that impact their community. The City is divided into four Neighborhood Council districts, and every City resident 18 years and older is automatically a member of their Neighborhood Council.

Executive Board Recruitment Open

Each Neighborhood Council has a 13-member volunteer Executive Board representing its district. 

• Term: July 1, 2026 - June 30, 2028

• Eligibility: Must be at least 18 years old and a resident of the City of Simi Valley

• Application Deadline: March 31, 2026

• Application:  www.simivalley.org/NCApplication.  Successful candidates will be appointed by the City Council to serve a two-year term.

What do Neighborhood Councils do?

Neighborhood Councils serve as a vital link between the City government and residents. They:

• Advise City Leaders by providing input to the City Council and Planning Commission on community concerns, development projects, and other issues where feedback is requested.

• Engage the Community by offering regular opportunities for residents to ask questions, share concerns, and participate in discussions about their neighborhood and the City.

• Shape Community Solutions by working within the City's government structure to develop ideas such as planning and development, public safety, and community services.

Why are Neighborhood Councils important?

Neighborhood Councils give residents a direct voice in local government. They help the City Council and City staff better understand community priorities and provide valuable input on development projects, zoning, and other decisions - always from the perspective of the people who live here.

When do the Neighborhood Councils Meet?

Each Neighborhood Council Executive Board meets typically once a month at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room at City Hall, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road, Simi Valley, CA 93063.
