Please complete the information below to be considered for future Youth Council membership.

Applications to serve on the Youth Council are accepted year-round.  Students that will be in grades 7th through 12th beginning fall 2020 may now apply for the 2020-21 Youth Council term that begins on July 1, 2020. Applications will be accepted until 5:00 p.m., on Thursday, April 30, 2020.

The Youth Council is an advisory board that:

A. Advises the City Council on issues affecting youth in the community.

B. Consists of 21 members and up to three alternates appointed annually to represent each middle and high school in Simi Valley, as well as youth from the community-at-large.

C. Meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month promptly at 5:00 p.m., during the school year, in the City Hall Community Room.

D. Hosts the Annual Simi Valley Youth Summit.

E. Promotes civic commitment and community volunteerism.

Although it is not required, it is strongly recommended that applicants attend at least one Youth Council meeting prior to the interview process. How many Youth Council meetings have you attended?

I understand that, if selected as a Youth Council member, I will serve as a volunteer and at the pleasure of the City Council. As a volunteer, I understand that I am not covered by the City's insurance policy and, further, that the City's liability does not encompass volunteers.*
