Youth Town Hall
Each year, the Youth Council partners with the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute to hold a Youth Town Hall. This event allows up to 400 middle and high school students the opportunity to hear public officials discuss local and statewide civic matters ranging from education to policy-making. To maximize participation, attendees pose their questions or share their concerns anonymously via Twitter. This year, the event was held on Friday, January 17, 2020. It is recognized as an educational activity by the Simi Valley Unified School District and approved as school business with prior teacher notification. For more information on how to attend next year's event, please contact your school’s administration.
Each year, the Youth Council hosts a Youth Summit annual leadership conference. Youth Summit participants are inspired by a motivational speaker, participate in team building and leadership exercises, learn the importance of community involvement, and share lunch while discussing community issues and ideas with local dignitaries. The event takes place on a school day. It is recognized as an educational activity by the Simi Valley Unified School District and is approved as school business with prior teacher notification.
The 19th annual Youth Summit will be held on March 12, 2020. Spaces are limited to 150 high school students. Register for this free event before Friday, February 21, 2020. To be notified in advance for other Youth Council events, students are encouraged to sign up for the Youth Council e-notifications to receive updates and information related to Youth Council activities.
