Mission Statement

The mission of the Simi Valley Council On Aging (COA), an advisory body elected by senior citizens and appointed by the Simi Valley City Council, is to identify the needs of senior citizens in this community. The Council On Aging serves as an advocate to support programs and services providing seniors with maximum independence, safety and quality of life. (Adopted October 10, 1994)

COA meetings are held on the second Monday of the month at 1:00 p.m. at the Senior Center. The COA will not hold meetings in July and August. Seniors are encouraged to attend and provide input, and interested seniors can apply for Board member positions by completing the application located below.

The COA is currently seeking a VCAAA Advisory Council Representative!

The Ventura County Area Agency on Aging (VCAAA) Advisory Council is a community-based body of advocates for persons aged 60 and over with a mission to involve the community in creating and sustaining programs that impact senior living and family caregivers. 

The Simi Valley Council On Aging is seeking an individual to serve as its representative on the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council for a two-year term.  The Advisory Council meets six times a year and much of the work is done in committees to help advocate for seniors in areas such as Transportation, Housing, Senior Nutrition, and Optimal Aging.

If you would like to represent the COA on the VCAAA Advisory Council, please fill out the interest form by Friday, June 5, 2020 and plan to attend the COA meeting on Monday, June 8, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Simi Valley Senior Center, 3900 Avenida Simi.
