The Simi Valley Youth Council is a group of young people who advise the City Council on issues that matter to youth in the community. The council has 21 members and up to three alternates.
Each middle and high school in Simi Valley has a student representative or two on the Youth Council. There are also members who represent the community at large, so different youth voices are heard.
Membership on the Youth Council is open to residents of the City of Simi Valley who are in 7th through 12th grade. The current Youth Council term began on July 1, 2024, and will conclude on June 30, 2025.
Applications to serve on the Youth Council are accepted year-round, and successful applicants are appointed by the City Council each June. The next application period to serve on the 2026-27 Youth Council term will open in March 2026.
Each year, the Youth Council partners with the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute to hold a Youth Town Hall. This event allows up to 500+ middle and high school students the opportunity to hear public and/or elected officials discuss local and statewide civic matters ranging from education to policy-making.
To maximize participation, attendees pose their questions or share their concerns anonymously via Twitter.
The Youth Town Hall is recognized as an educational activity by the Simi Valley Unified School District and approved as school business with prior teacher notification.

Each year, the Youth Council hosts the Youth Summit, an annual leadership conference for local youth. At the event, participants:
