Volunteering in Simi Valley
Simi Valley has a strong history of community involvement and volunteer work. Each year, more than 500 volunteers help in City buildings. They give over 40,000 hours of service, worth more than $1.4 million.
If you want to volunteer in the arts, social services, the environment, senior programs, youth activities, or animal care, there are many meaningful ways to support the community.
Meet Our 2026 Honorees
2026 Community Volunteer of the Year
Gina Truncale Adams has been chosen as the 2026 Community Volunteer of the Year. She earned this award through her years of service and strong leadership in many community programs. Her work includes serving on the Day of Peace planning committee and being active in the Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise. She also helps with fundraisers and events, such as the Happy Face Music Festival and Oktoberfest.
As President of the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center Foundation Board for the past three years, she helped organize the 2025 Hispanic Heritage Festival, the Hispanic Heritage Film Festival, and the Colors of India event. Her dedication and enthusiasm for helping others show the best of Simi Valley.
2026 City Volunteer of the Year
Simi Valley’s 2026 City Volunteer of the Year, Chaplain Bill Martin, is being honored for his strong dedication to the Police Department and the community. As a Police Chaplain, he is a calm and steady presence at briefings, DUI checkpoints, and during tough situations. He supports officers and their families when they need it most. He also volunteers each week with the Knights of Columbus at St. Rose of Lima Church, where he helps feed unhoused individuals with kindness. He has given more than 500 hours of service.
At 89 years old, his energy, warmth, and lifelong commitment to helping others make him an outstanding and deserving honoree.
