Please Note: All Senior Center Volunteers need to be 18 years of age or older.
We are always looking for additional eligible volunteers. The Volunteer Program helps people locate fun and rewarding service opportunities at the Senior Center. Whether you can give four or forty hours a week, our Volunteer Coordinator identifies opportunities that match your personal interests and makes use of your skills and experience to find the right job for you.

Senior Share (formerly known as Brown Bag): Every Tuesday, volunteers are needed to prepare and distribute bags filled with supplemental groceries for income eligible seniors at the Senior Center.
Council On Aging: The Simi Valley Council On Aging (COA) is composed of nine Executive Board members, appointed by the City Council, and general members who serve on committees and assist with projects and special events. Volunteers are needed to help with special events that raise funds for many of the programs available at the Senior Center.
Meals On Wheels: Drivers are needed to deliver lunch to homebound seniors Monday through Friday. Schedules vary, and drivers are reimbursed for their mileage. Auto insurance, a good driving record, and finger printing are required.
Ambassador: Sign up to work at the reception desks answering phones, booking appointments, and working with clients who come to the desk with questions. To promote excellent customer service, this position requires volunteering a minimum of twice a week for three hours to ensure the volunteer is familiar with Senior Center operations.
Senior Nutrition Program: Seniors come to the Senior Center to enjoy noon-time meals Monday through Friday. Volunteers are needed in the kitchen to help prepare and serve the meal, and to clean up. Other volunteers assist with taking meal reservations.
Special Events: Volunteers are needed throughout the year to help assist with special events, such as the Arts & Crafts Fairs, Wellness and Information Expo, Bingo Bonanza, and our monthly dances. Hours and days vary and include evening and weekend hours.

2025 Wayne Templeton Volunteer of the Year
Congratulations to Bill Oliver, the 2025 Wayne Templeton Volunteer of the Year! This award celebrates a senior whose selfless dedication to volunteerism enriches the lives of older adults in our community. For the past nine years, Bill has delivered meals to homebound seniors through the Meals On Wheels program. Bill has also been an active and trusted leader on the Council On Aging, serving as Chair, Treasurer, and on multiple Ad Hoc Committees. Those who work alongside Bill describe him as dependable, calm, and kind-hearted. He gives not only his time, but his heart, reflecting a deep belief in dignity, human connection, and an unwavering commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
