Come visit the historical displays in City Hall and the Simi Valley Public Library in commemoration of the City’s 50th Anniversary. There are two tables in the lobby of City Hall with many interesting items for the public to pick up and look through, and a display at the Library with some incredible Simi Valley artifacts, photographs and literature. Stop by to take a look at some of the items procured for this event.
Thursday, October 10, 2019 is the City's 50th Anniversary! Join us at City Hall at 4:00 p.m. for an intimate ceremony on the 50th anniversary of the City's incorporation. Cake will be served beginning at 11:00 a.m. through the ceremony, so please join us.
On Saturday, October 12, 2019 the City will host a celebration at the Civic Center from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with activities for the whole family. We invite all residents to come out and enjoy a fun-filled day with tours of the Police Department, Touch-a-Truck, and more! During the celebration, residents who have lived here since 1969 are encouraged to take part in a photo at 9:30 a.m. View flyer for further details.
The Simi Valley Historical Society held a successful kick-off celebration on April 27, 2019 at Strathearn Historical Park. We hope you had a chance to come on out and enjoy some fun.
On June 22 at Corriganville Park, residents were treated to an “On Location” two-hour walking tour with Gregg Anderson. Details regarding more than 400 movies and television shows filmed at Corriganville Movie Ranch were highlighted from Fort Apache to today’s blockbusters.
Afterwards, many residents headed to the Santa Susana Train Depot to see what the Corriganville Movie Ranch looked like during the heyday of filming. Docents led presentations about the history of film in Simi Valley and participants were also able to explore a model of the Corriganville Movie Ranch, posters, and memorabilia.
On Saturday, July 13, 2019 a Movie at the Civic Center featuring Captain America: The First Avenger was held. Thank you to Welcome Home Soldier Foundation and the Kettle Corn Food Truck for their support.
On Saturday, September 21, 2019, in honor of the City's 50th Anniversary, a Barn Dance and Dinner was held at Strathearn Historical Park & Museum. This event was sponsored by the City of Simi Valley, Rancho Simi Recreation Park & District and Kiwanis Club of Simi Valley.
