July 25, 2008 Application Deadline for New Affordable Senior Apartments

Haven at Tapo Street (across from the Santa Susana Plaza shopping center), the newest senior apartment complex in the City, is nearing completion.  The three-story building, with an elevator, contains 35 affordable units.  There are 18 1-bedroom, 1-bath units approximately 587 square feet in size and 17 2-bedroom, 1-bath units approximately 760 square feet in size.  Each unit will have central air conditioning, a refrigerator, a garbage disposal, a stove, mini-blinds, carpet, a storage closet, cable TV hook-up, and a balcony or patio.  Common area amenities include BBQ areas, outdoor seating, central laundry facilities, a recreational room, and a computer center.

To be eligible to rent one of these units, at least one member of each household must be 55 years of age or older, and any other household members must be at least 45 years of age.  All households must income-qualify for these units.  Generally, the maximum household income varies from $18,000 per year for a one-person household to $41,160 for a two-person household.

Applications are available at Harmony Terrace Senior Apartments at 905 Sunset Garden Lane in Simi Valley (off of Madera Road, near Wood Ranch).  Completed applications must be submitted to Harmony Terrace staff by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2008.  Applications will be processed in an order to be determined by a public lottery to be held on Friday, August 1, 2008, at the Simi Valley Senior Center, located at 3900 Avenida Simi.
