A new way to get around Simi Valley is now available. The City of Simi Valley has launched Simi Valley Transit On Demand, a pilot transportation program offering same-day, affordable rides in designated areas throughout the community.
Designed to make local travel more convenient and sustainable, the service supports daily needs such as commuting, running errands, or reaching local destinations.
“Transit On Demand brings public transportation directly into neighborhoods where it's needed most,” said Mayor Dee Dee Cavanaugh. “This new service reflects Simi Valley’s commitment to innovative and accessible transportation options, making it easier for community members to get where they need to go, when they need to get there.”
Key features of the service include same-day booking for flexible, on-demand transportation; custom pickup and drop-off locations within designated service zones; the use of eco-friendly electric vehicles that support local sustainability goals; and seamless connections to fixed-route transit, enhancing overall mobility throughout the region.
Transit On Demand blends the convenience of rideshare with the affordability of public transit. Operating Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the service uses a fleet of small electric vehicles to reduce emissions and improve access in areas that traditional bus routes may not serve. Service is available within the primary service zone, Zone #1, as well as at designated locations including Adventist Health Simi Valley (Zone #2), the Civic Center (Zone #3), and the Simi Valley Train Station (Zone #4).
Fares are $4 per ride for adults, $3 for seniors and individuals with disabilities, and free for children age 5 and under when accompanied by a paying guardian over the age of 16. As a special promotion, Transit is currently offering a limited $1 fare for all riders now through August 29.
Community members can request rides using the free Simi Valley Transit mobile app, available in the Apple Store or Google Play. Trips can also be scheduled online at www.svtondemand.com or by calling (805) 583-6464
