The deadline for applications to rent the Mainstage of the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center has been extended until May 31, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. Applications are open to professional theater companies and other performing arts organizations who wish to rent the Mainstage for the Center’s 2020 season. This season will mark the 25th anniversary of the Center, which presents a unique opportunity to highlight the talent found right here in our vibrant performing arts community.

Applications are being accepted for professionally produced musicals and plays that reflect the Cultural Arts Center’s reputation for producing high quality entertainment for the entire family. Production runs can range from one to five consecutive weekends (weekends consist of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday performances). Applications will be evaluated by a selection committee, with the highest scoring applicants receiving priority in reserving the Mainstage for productions in the year 2020.

“We are thrilled to be entering our 25th year here at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center,” said Fred Helsel, Acting Community Services Manager of the Center. “A major part of our longevity and success has been due to the support and dedication of our local performing arts community,” continued Helsel. “We look forward to sharing the stage with them during this momentous year.”

The Cultural Arts Center first opened its doors in 1995 and is owned and operated by the City of Simi Valley. The Center is housed within a historical building and features: the 185-seat Mainstage and the 80-seat DownStage black box theaters, both with full technical capabilities; professional dressing rooms; exhibit space; and a catering kitchen. Functioning as a production, presentation, and rental house, the facility is home to over 350 events a year, including musicals, recitals, dance performances, art exhibits, weddings, community meetings, concerts, and more.

Applications are available online at http://www.simivalley.org/CACMainstageApp. For more information about the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center, its programing, and to purchase tickets for an upcoming show, please visit www.simi-arts.org.
