DESCRIPTION:<p style="margin-left: 40px;">Between October 6-12, 2018, the Simi Valley Youth Council and Simi Valley Community Garden will be collecting sweet potatoes to give to those in need in Simi Valley.&nbsp; </p><p style="margin-left: 40px;">Please help them by donating sweet potatoes on Saturday, October 6, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at either Vons at 1855 Cochran Street or Vons Pavilions at 2938 Tapo Canyon Road.</p><p style="margin-left: 40px;">Donations of sweet potatoes will also be collected at Simi Valley City Hall at 2929 Tapo Canyon Road, Monday, October 8 through Friday, October 12, 2018, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.</p><p style="margin-left: 40px;">or</p><p style="margin-left: 40px;">at the Simi Valley Public Library at 2969 Tapo Canyon Road during the following days and times:&nbsp;&nbsp;</p><ul>    <li>Saturday, October 6, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.</li>    <li>Sunday, October 7, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.</li>    <li>Monday, October 8 through Thursday, October 11, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m&nbsp;</li>    <li style="text-align: left;">Friday, October 12, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.<br>    <br>    The @SocialFeed project is an innovative initiative designed to confront food insecurity.&nbsp; The hope of the first-of-its kind program is to collectively grow or donate 5,000 pounds of healthy produce (sweet potatoes) to Simi Valley food pantries.&nbsp; @SocialFeed might be best described as a city-wide “food mob” (like a “flash mob”).<br>    <br>    Earlier this year, Youth Council and Community Garden volunteers distributed 3,000 complimentary plant-starts to attendees at the Simi Valley Street Fair and 2018 Expo.&nbsp; Those individuals and groups that received and planted the starts are being asked to harvest the sweet potatoes and bring them to one of the designated collections sites above.&nbsp; After all donations are received, the produce will be weighed and distributed to Simi Valley food pantries.&nbsp; For more information, please call the Youth Council Coordinator at (805) 583-6766.<br>    <br>    &nbsp;@SocialFeed is a community action project of the “Garden of Dreams” community service initiative, founded by the Simi Valley Community Garden (Simi at the Garden).&nbsp; More information about the garden and the Garden of Dreams initiative can be found at: http://www.simiatthegarden.org.</li></ul>
