The City of Simi Valley is proposing adjustments to sanitation rates to ensure the continued maintenance and improvement of the City’s wastewater collection and treatment systems. If approved, the new rates will take effect on July 1, 2025, with a 3.5% annual increase over the next five years, keeping rates competitive with regional wastewater agencies while addressing critical infrastructure needs.
To provide residents and businesses with an opportunity to learn more and offer feedback, Simi Valley Public Works will host a community meeting on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Simi Valley City Hall in the Community Room, located at 2929 Tapo Canyon Road.
Attendees will receive an overview of the Sanitation Enterprise Program, which funds essential services, and details on how the proposed rate structure will support necessary upgrades to aging underground pipes and treatment facilities.
The Sanitation Enterprise Program is responsible for maintaining the City’s wastewater infrastructure, which is now at a critical juncture as many pipes and treatment facilities reach the end of their useful life. Over the next five years, the City’s Capital Improvement Program will require funding for 49 projects to replace aging infrastructure and ensure reliable, high-quality wastewater services for the community.
Residents and property owners can also provide input at the public hearing on Monday, May 5, 2025, before the City Council decides on the proposed rate adjustments.
