Neighborhood Councils are a unique part of the City of Simi Valley, giving residents a voice in decisions that impact their community. The City is divided into four Neighborhood Council districts, and every City resident 18 years and older is automatically a member of their Neighborhood Council.

What do Neighborhood Councils do?
Neighborhood Councils serve as a vital link between the City government and residents. They:
- Advise City leaders by providing input to the City Council and Planning Commission on community concerns, development projects, and other issues where feedback is requested.
- Engage the community by offering regular opportunities for residents to ask questions, share concerns, and participate in discussions about their neighborhood and the City.
- Shape community solutions by working within the City's government structure to develop ideas such as planning and development, public safety, and community services.
Why are Neighborhood Councils important?
Neighborhood Councils give residents a direct voice in local government. They help the City Council and City staff better understand community priorities and provide valuable input on development projects, zoning, and other decisions - always from the perspective of the people who live here.
Executive Board
Each Neighborhood Council has a 13-member volunteer Executive Board representing its district. Board members serve two-year terms, with recruitment occurring every eight months. During each recruitment cycle, about one-third of the seats are opened for appointment, providing ongoing opportunities for residents to get involved while maintaining continuity within each Council. When do the Neighborhood Councils Meet?
Each Neighborhood Council Executive Board meets typically once a month at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room at City Hall, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road, Simi Valley, CA 93063.

Get Involved! The Simi Valley Neighborhood Councils are recruiting for Executive Board Member positions.
The Neighborhood Councils are a great way to get involved and learn more about your community. The City is currently seeking applications from community members who can offer a variety of perspectives and experiences for Neighborhood Council Executive Board member positions.
The Neighborhood Councils meet on a monthly basis to:
- Advise the City Council and Planning Commission on resident concerns, development projects, and other matters on which the City Council has specifically requested their input;
- Give residents the opportunity to voice their concerns or ask questions about their neighborhood and city; and
- Give developers the opportunity to dialog with residents and address concerns early in the planning process.
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and a resident of the City of Simi Valley. Successful candidates will be appointed by the City Council to serve a two-year term from March 1, 2023 to February 28, 2025.
