Overview

Natural, renewable sources of energy, such as solar power, wind power, and fuel cells, are increasingly used to replace conventional power supplies.  As the dollar and environmental costs of fossil fuels like coal and oil continue to increase, so will demand for renewable energy sources.  As technology advances, renewable energy systems will become more cost effective and efficient.

Like many people and businesses in Simi Valley, the City is working to reduce the use of fossil fuels to supply electricity for our buildings.  By increasing the demand for renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power, we can increase development of new economic opportunities and support clean energy production that will decrease our dependency on unpredictable sources of energy.

The City provides a streamlined permit process and fee structure to encourage the use of photovoltaic (solar) panels to provide power for existing commercial and residential buildings.  The City has staff on hand to help you make smart decisions on energy efficiency and adding renewable power to your home or business.
