Overview

The foundation of a sustainable community is established in a City's plans for the future.  Recently, through a joint effort among the City of Simi Valley, residents, and businesses, Simi Valley updated its General Plan, which will guide development decisions for the next 20 years.  Sustainability is a key theme of the Simi Valley General Plan Update, and the goals and policies are designed to locate housing, jobs, and services closer to one another to reduce automobile traffic, congestion, pollution, and resource consumption, while increasing the viability of businesses and social interaction, energy efficiency, water conservation, and recycling.  Simi Valley's plans for future growth and development are guided by a commitment to protect the natural environment and to maintain and enhance the quality of life for all people in Simi Valley.
