The City of Simi Valley is currently accepting applications for two alternate community-at-large member positions on the Youth Employment Service (YES) Advisory Board. The YES Advisory Board promotes the employment of Simi Valley youth, assists youth in developing an understanding of the needs and expectations of employers, and acts as an advisory board to the City Council on matters involving youth employment. The YES conducts an annual Job and Career Expo plus Interview Skills Workshops at local high schools. Through their efforts, the YES not only prepares young people for future career success, but also helps instill confidence and self-esteem. The YES is an integral service to the local business community in teaching youth about application completion and job interview skills, resume preparation, and above all, encouraging strong work ethics to retain employment. The success of the YES would not be possible without the hard work and efforts of the YES Advisory Board.

The YES Advisory Board meets at 8:15 a.m., on the third Wednesday of each month, September through June, in the City Hall Community Room, at 2929 Tapo Canyon Road. To learn more about the YES Advisory Board, interested individuals are invited to attend the next YES Advisory Board meeting on September 20, 2017. All YES Advisory Board meetings are open to the public

Applications will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2017. Applications may be submitted online at For further information, please contact the Youth Employment Service at (805) 522-4473 or visit
